The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd Ceremony Bookings:
This contract is issued by The Scottish Celebrants and is an agreement between The Scottish Celebrants, The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd, and the Couple.
1. The Marriage Officer will provide a professional service at all times, ensuring that the ceremony is dignified, meaningful and personal within a broad Humanist framework. The Marriage Officer is authorised by the Registrar General to solemnise Humanist Marriages and register Civil Partnerships on behalf of The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd.
2. The Marriage Officer will ensure that they follow The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd code of conduct and procedures issued to them by The Scottish Celebrants during their training.
3. The Marriage Officer will ensure that the Marriage is solemnised in accordance with the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977, or the Civil Partnership is registered in accordance with the Civil Partnership (Scotland) Act 2014 and in a location that is safe and dignified.
4. The Marriage Officer will ensure the Marriage/Civil Partnership takes place on the date and place specified on the Schedule issued by the Registrar.
5. The Marriage Officer is legally required to obtain the Marriage/Civil Partnership Schedule from the couple before the ceremony can commence.
6. The Marriage Officer will ensure the Marriage/Civil Partnership Schedule is correctly signed in permanent black liquid ink.
7. The Marriage Officer will ensure any amendments to the Schedule are made and initialled in permanent liquid black ink.
Note: The date and place of the ceremony cannot be altered without the express permission of the Registrar.
8. In the unlikely event that your chosen Marriage Officer becomes unavailable for the ceremony, we reserve the right to appoint a replacement Marriage Officer.
1. To contact the Registrar, in the district where the Marriage/Civil Partnership is to take place, at least 10-12 weeks before the date of the wedding and no later than 29 days prior, to submit the Marriage Notice forms (M10) or the Civil Partnership Notice Form (CP10). If either of you is not a British citizen, you are responsible for ensuring that the correct documentation is provided in order to be married or register a Civil Partnership in Scotland.
2. To inform the Registrar that the marriage will be solemnised or Civil Partnership registered by a Marriage Officer of The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd, by completing Section F of the M10/CP10 forms. Note: In addition to The Scottish Celebrants fee, statutory fees are payable to the Registrar for the submission of Marriage/Civil Partnership Notices and for copies of the Marriage/Civil Partnership Certificate.
3. To collect the Schedule from the Registrar during the week prior to the ceremony. One of the named parties must personally collect it.
4. To deliver the Schedule to the Marriage Officer on the day of the ceremony. Note: the ceremony cannot be legally conducted without the Schedule.
5. To advise the Registrar and the Marriage Officer, in advance, if there is any possibility of the ceremony not taking place on the date or in the place specified.
6. To take care of the signed Schedule and to return it to the Registrar within 3 days of the ceremony taking place, so that the Marriage/Civil Partnership can be registered. Please note that it can be returned to the Registrar by anyone.
7. To pay the agreed non-refundable booking fee of £137.50 (which will be deducted from your balance) and the remaining balance due in respect of fees and expenses, in full, twelve weeks prior to the ceremony. This payment must be received in full at least 29 days prior to your wedding date and failure to pay may result in cancellation of your booking. Balance payment can only be made via bank transfer and details will be sent with the invoice.Note: the fee for the ceremony includes travel within a 50 miles radius of your chosen celebrant and any additional travel or expenses will be agreed by the Celebrant and the couple. Additional mileage will be charged at 50p per mile + VAT.
8. To ensure the chosen Marriage Officer covers the location of your ceremony before booking. The Scottish Celebrants reserve the right to arrange a replacement if a Marriage Officer is booked outside their areas covered unless previously agreed.
This contract is issued by The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd and The Scottish Celebrants, and is an agreement between the The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd, The Scottish Celebrants and the Customer.
By accepting these terms & conditions you agree to pay your non-refundable booking fee and final balance to The Scottish Celebrants.
1. The Celebrant will provide a professional service at all times, ensuring that the ceremony is dignified, meaningful, and personal.
2. The Celebrant will ensure that they follow the The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd code of conduct and procedures issued to them by The Organisation of Scottish Celebrants Ltd during their training.
3. The Celebrant will ensure the ceremony takes place on the date and place specified on the booking form.
4. In the unlikely event that your chosen Celebrant becomes unavailable for the ceremony, we reserve the right to appoint a replacement Celebrant. If in the event no celebrant is available for your date, we will work closely to help you source a suitable alternative.

We will keep your name on our supporters’ register (no personal details are stored) and you can ask for your name to be removed at any time by contacting admin@thescottishcelebrants.org
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 calendar days of booking by informing us in writing of your decision to admin@thescottishcelebrants.org Failure to notify us in writing within this time will result in a cancellation fee of 100% of the cost of your booking (including the non-refundable deposit)
Any bookings cancelled within 30 days of your ceremony taking place will also be non-refundable (including the non-refundable deposit).
To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us, The Scottish Celebrants, of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement sent by e-mail to admin@thescottishcelebrants.org
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
If you need to postpone your ceremony your non-refundable deposit will be used to secure your new date, The Scottish Celebrants will honour the new date and, where possible, with your chosen Celebrant (however this is not guaranteed).
